Who we are:
In the Malaria Research Group of the Institute of Microbiology at the University Hospital Erlangen we are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic PhD candidate who is interested in investigating host-pathogen interactions in the human malaria parasite P. falciparum, the pathogen that causes most of the severe malaria cases worldwide. The position is funded for three years through the DFG Research Training Group RTG 2740 “Immunomicrotope”, Project B1.

Essential experience/qualifications:
- Candidates must hold a Master’s degree in life sciences such as e.g. biology, biochemistry, molecular medicine, or equivalent.
- Excellent written and spoken English-language communication skills and a strong interest in working as part of an international team of researchers.
Additionally beneficial are:
- A strong background in molecular biology, (epi-)genetics, RNAseq and ChIPseq analysis, and bioinformatics is desired
